Professional tile and grout sealing to restore water resistance, prevent staining and extend the life of your shower, bathroom or balcony surfaces — without removing a single tile.
Make the Right Choice
Not every grout problem requires full replacement. Understanding when to seal and when to replace saves time and money.
| Feature | Sealing | Replacement |
|---|---|---|
| Waterproof Protection | Restores water resistance to existing grout & tiles | Completely new waterproof barrier |
| Cost | Significantly lower — 60–80% less than replacement | Higher — includes labour, materials and possible tile removal |
| Time Required | 4–8 hours + 24hr curing. Bathroom usable next day. | 2–5 days including removal, prep and re-tiling |
| Tile Removal | None required | Often necessary for full membrane access |
| Best For | Surface-level grout porosity, minor staining, preventative care | Failed membrane, extensive substrate damage, structural leaks |
| Lifespan Added | 3–7 years with proper maintenance | 10–15+ years for new waterproofing system |
The Benefits
Penetrating sealers soak into grout lines and porous tiles, creating a hydrophobic barrier that repels water and prevents absorption — the leading cause of grout degradation.
Exterior-grade sealers protect balcony tiles and grout from UV radiation, temperature cycling and salt air — critical for Sydney coastal and exposed balcony applications.
Sealed grout resists staining from soaps, shampoos, hard water and mould spores. Cleaning becomes easier and the surface maintains its appearance for years.
Proper sealing can add 3–7 years of effective waterproofing to existing grout and tiles, delaying the need for more extensive repairs or replacement.
Products We Use
We select the right sealer for your specific tiles, grout type, exposure conditions and performance requirements.
Invisible, breathable sealers that soak into grout and porous tiles. Ideal for showers and bathrooms where moisture needs to escape while surface water is repelled. Does not change tile appearance.
Best for: Showers, bathrooms, natural stone
Surface-forming membranes that create a visible protective layer over grout and tiles. Available in matte and gloss finishes. Provides the highest level of water resistance but may alter surface texture.
Best for: Balconies, commercial wet areas, high-traffic floors
Specialist sealers designed for epoxy grout systems. Enhance the already excellent waterproofing properties of epoxy while adding stain resistance and making the surface easier to clean.
Best for: Epoxy grout showers, premium bathrooms
How We Work
All grout lines and tile surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and degreased to remove soaps, oils and existing contaminants that would prevent proper sealer adhesion.
Any cracked or missing grout is repaired. Old failing sealers are stripped. The surface must be completely dry before sealer application.
Sealer is applied evenly across all grout lines and tile surfaces using specialist applicators. Multiple coats may be applied depending on porosity and product specification.
The sealer is left to cure for 24–48 hours. We then perform a water-beading test to confirm effective hydrophobic protection before handover.
